Fall Cooking Fires

10/12/2021 (Permalink)

Fall is a favorite time for many to fry, grill, bake, broil and simmer. From pots of chili to roasts and fried chicken to baking your favorite fall treats.

Did you know

The leading cause of kitchen fires is unattended cooking.

A few tips to stay safe while cooking this fall include

  • Stay in the kitchen while food is cooking
  • When using the oven or cooking things that have longer cooking times set a timer. A timer will help you remember food is cooking
  • Keep anything that could catch fire away from the stove. This includes oven mitts, kitchen towels, food packages and wooden utensils.

If you are cooking outside over an open female or enjoying a fall bonfire use these tips to help stay safe

  • Monitor wind conditions. If it is too windy embers from the fire can blow and ignite a fire.
  • Always have a ire source close such as a bucket of water or a garden hose.
  • Do not leave the fire unattended.
  • Closely monitor children and pets and keep them at least 3 feet away from the fire.
